Georgetown – Members of the Alliance for change (AFC) this morning stage a peaceful protest action in front of the Office of the President in concern of the growing issues within the President’s Office.
According to AFC’s presidential candidate Khemraj Ramjattan, his party is concerned about the sacking of an Office of the President staff, Marcelle Joseph two weeks ago.
Joseph was believed to be leaking Government information to a media house, an accusation she strongly denied.
She has since fled to the United States of America for fear of her life.Minutes after the AFC protest started, a group of people gathered at the AFC’ Office in Campbellville, shouting slanderous remarks about the party and its members.
The police was called in but ignore the AFC’s members. Ramjattan said this group was mobilized by the ruling People’s Progressive Party since he was part of that party and recognizes some of the protesters. He said this is a way the party and by extension the Government wants to drive fear in the people who protest their wrong doings.
Social activists Mark Benchop and Freddi Kissioon joined the AFC group in denouncing the noisy protesters.
