Alarming cases of HIV among school children in Essequibo

Essequibo – TrakkerNews was reliably informed that there are about 50 cases of school children with HIV positive in two leading Secondary schools along the Essequibo Coast.

The source disclosed that the children are from forms four and five and parents are now being informed. The source also indicated the spread of the dreaded disease may have started with a student- teacher relationship.

TrakkerNews have made several attempts to have a comment from the Permanent Secretary within the Ministry of Education Pulander Kandhi, but this has since proved futile. The regional health officer of Region two (Essequibo), Dr. Alison Brown, says she is not aware of such information but will immediately launch an investigation with agencies that carry out HIV tests in that region. TrakkerNews will continue to follow this story.
