Minister of Home Affairs and Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite issued the all clear to Barbadians following the passage of Tropical Storm Chantal around 11.30 this morning.
The Minister made the statement during a press conference at District Emergency Management (DEM) headquarters.
Early this morning the centre of “Chantal” was located near 12.9°N 57.2°W or about 155 miles…250 km to the east of Barbados and was moving towards the west -north west at 26mph…43 km/h .
Officials at the Barbados Meteorological had forecasted that Chantal would have passed about 50 miles to the north of the island around 8 o clock this morning with widespread moderate to heavy showers, scattered thunderstorms and winds gusting to storm force affecting the entire island,
By mid morning Chantal had passed the island, despite most of the days being dark and gloomy the heavy showers and scattered thunderstorms predicted by the Met Office materializes.
All Government offices and most businesses on the island were closed, supermarkets and fastfood outlets were open after the all clear was given
