Georgetown: Cabinet secretary Dr. Roger Luncheon says amendments to the anti-money laundering and counter financing of terrorism act of 2009 are complete and will be tabled in the National Assembly soon.
He explained that during an evaluation of Guyana’s efforts and compliance with its treaty obligations; it recognized that there were a series of amendments that had to be made.
Dr Luncheon pointed out that the drafting of a cyber crimes bill is also a work in progress.
The cabinet secretary says cyber crime is one of the fastest growing areas of crime and the administration will remain alert and proactive in ensuring it does not take root here.
