Mark Engels died while on his way to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital yesterday.
Engels, 58, was sea-bathing at the Crane Beach in St Philip when it was noticed that he was unresponsive in the water.
He was then taken from the water and CPR was performed by a lifeguard and medical personnel on the scene.
They effort were not successful, Engels who was vacationing on the island with his wife dies on the way to the hospital.
