Georgetown: Trinidad-based, family-owned American Stores Limited situated at the corner of Regent Road and Cummings Street, Bourda opened its doors officially.
The American Stores has been in existence since 1950, meeting the needs of customers for quality furniture and appliances for over 60 years. The stores will be opened from Sunday to Sunday, operating at the regular hours of business to accommodate the holiday season.
The major promotion held yesterday resulted in 10 lucky winners being chosen from more than 50,000 entries submitted via completed coupons countrywide.
General Manager for the Guyana operations, Austill Ogle told media operatives that the company was looking to expand to other countries within the region, and a Guyana branch was sought to kick start this process.
This, he said, was as a result of the sustained performance and growth of the Guyanese economy. “In the shortest possible time, we aim to become a significant manufacturing hub for the American Stores Limited. This venture will satisfy local expansion in, but not limited to, Georgetown among others,” Ogle explained.
“In Trinidad, the American Stores Limited is amongst the industry leader making sterling contributions to that economy as a private sector entity and pursing an active agenda in the community,” Ogle noted.
