Another Jamaican jailed for trying to smuggle cannabis into Barbados

Another Jamaican national has been caught at the Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) trying to smuggle cannabis into Barbados.

Alvin Orlandzo Calbert 42 arrived in Barbados on March 11, 2013 and was interviewed by members of the Drug Squad at the GAIA.

He was referred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he subsequently passed out 69 packages of the cannabis which he had digested. The drugs weiged 3 ½ lbs.  

Calbert was charged was on the March, 15, 2013 charged with possession a controlled drug to    possession with intent to supply, trafficking and  Importation.

He appeared at the District B Magistrate Court on Friday. March 15th and pleaded guilty to all the charges.  

  Calbert was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment to three of the charges; he was convicted, reprimanded and discharged (CRD) on the possession charge.

He is the fourth Jamaican this year to be jailed for attempting to smuggle drugs into Barbados.
