Point Lisas: The Seamen and Waterfront Workers Trade Union has rejected an five percent wage increase offer from the Chief Personnel Officer for Plipdeco workers which the union says was tabled on February 1st.
The offer is for the period 2009 to 2012.
President General of the SWWTU, Michael Annisette has told Plipdeco that to continue with the offer would only result in industrial action as he has described the offer as provocative and insensitive.
The union is calling on the Plipdeco board and management to revisit the offer and return to the bargaining table without delay bearing in mind that the negotiations have been outstanding for more than 37 months and he says the workers are now totally disenchanted.
