APNU/AFC agent files private criminal charge against GECOM Chair

Georgetown: In order to intimidate and frustrate the chairperson of GECOM Justice Claudette Singh, an APNU/AFC agent on Wednesday filed private criminal charges against her at the Georgetown Magistrates court Wednesday morning.

The charge alleges misconduct in public office.  The applicants allege that Claudette Singh “acted recklessly and unlawfully between May 29th and June 23rd when she breached the recount order gazetted in the official gazette on the 4th of May 2020 and amended recount order on the 29th of May 2020.”

The matter has been set for August 5th in the Georgetown Magistrates court.

The world’s leading international organisations including CARICOM, the OAS, the Commonwealth and Guyana’ major development partners the USA, the UK, Canada and the European Union, have all called for the declaration of the results of the elections on the basis of the results of the national vote recount.

De fact President David Granger has on multiple occasions said he would respect whatever declaration is made by GECOM and has also repeatedly said he is not interfering in the work of GECOM. However, his actions and those of his party and proven otherwise.
