The Wikileaks cables of US Embassy dispatches from Georgetown link high-ranking members of the PPP/C Administration to criminal activities and reveal their unwillingness or impotence to challenge various criminal activities, including murders, drug trafficking and money laundering.
The information being released shows that the Diplomatic community does not trust the leaders of the PPP/C Administration to act responsibly. The consequence is that almost every Guyanese is regarded as a suspect in drug-trafficking and money laundering. Why else would our citizens be singled out for special treatment at the international airports? Why else would our exports of every commodity be subjected to meticulous scrutiny by foreign customs officials? This is according to A partnership for national unity APNU at it's weekly press conference.
According ot the party, Guyanese are questioning the growth of the economy that the Administration is claiming when three major agricultural areas of the country experienced severe floods this year and the Ministry of Agriculture has reported declines in rice and sugar production.
Guyanese the party say, want to know which segments of the society have been benefitting from the vaunted growth when the working population is continuing to see their disposable income eaten away by the high cost-of-living and the unconscionable 16 percent value added tax (VAT).
A.P.N.U said it pledges to work with the Guyanese people, including patriotic supporters of the PPP, to root out the corruption, criminality, cronyism, discrimination and political spitefulness which are such prominent features of the Jagdeo regime.
