Georgetown : General Secretary of A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), Mr. Joseph Harmon today met with British High Commissioner Mr. Andrew Ayre and Head of the Caribbean Team (British Foreign and Commonwealth Office), Mr. Paul Carter. The meeting was held at the Office of the Leader of the Opposition, Hadfield Street Georgetown.
The main discussions centered on Parliamentary democracy in Guyana; the prorogation of the 10th Parliament and finding a way forward.
Harmon iterated the position of APNU that there would be no dialogue with the Executive Branch of Government, unless the Proclamation of Prorogation is reversed.
APNU thanked the British High Commissioner for his country’s support in calling for the lifting of the prorogation and an early resumption of Parliament.
The APNU General Secretary was accompanied to the meeting by APNU’s Director of Communication, Mr. Mark Archer.
