APNU supporters returned to 1763 monument dissatisfied with elections results

Georgetown : Supporters of the now main opposition APNU who felt they were robbed of the just concluded Regional and National elections gathered at the Square of the Revolution, the 1763 monument (CuffY) this morning. They were chanting “Granger is we President”, “GECOM robbed APNU” and  “there is no place for Donald”.

The gathering was addressed by APNU’s Prime Ministerial candidate Rupert Roopnarine explaining what the out come of the elections was. He maintained that statements of polls for South Ruimveldt were missing and the final count was not right. This got the crowd agitated.

The APNU supporters were urging their leaders to take the streets of Georgetown to protest, some even shouted “burn the city down”.

There was heavy security presence around the crowd and Office of the President which is obliquely opposite the square of the revolution. Police were also dispatched around the capital city especially the commercial areas.
