Georgetown : At about 4:45pm yesterday two men armed with firearms and on a motor cycle at Main Street, Georgetown, held up a salesman attached to the Fix It Hardware Store who was in a motor vehicle waiting at a traffic light.
The perpetrators took away a bag containing close to $600,000.00 during which they were confronted by an armed private security guard in the vicinity. An exchange of gunfire ensued during which one of the armed bandits was fatally shot, while his accomplice managed to escape.
The dead man has been identified as Lloyd Hazel of Hill Street, Georgetown.
All the stolen money was recovered along with an unlicensed Luger 9mm. pistol and the motor cycle.
Investigations are in progress.
