Armed bandits robbed businessman cash, jewellery and ammunition.

East Coast Demerara : The police today launched an investigating into an armed robbery that occurred at Hope, East Coast Demerara, where businessman Karranchand Itwaru, his wife Cindy Itwaru, son Trevor Itwaru and employee Leon Wickham were attacked and robbed by five men, two of whom were armed with handguns.

Police investigations revealed that Trevor Itwaru and Leon Wickham were standing at the gate to the General Store when they were confronted by the banditscwho drove up in a motor car, held them at gunpoint and took them into the house.  The men also held up Karranchand Itwaru and his wife and tied up their victims after which they ransacked the house and took away a quantity of jewellery, $300,000.00, a quantity of ammunition and $US1, 300.00.
