Armstrong Drigo confirmed dead by police in Portsmouth shooting

Dominica: Dominica News Online reported that Police Spokesman, Kent Matthew, said the authorities are investigating the shooting death at Portsmouth of 30-year-old Armstrong Drigo but could not at this time confirm reports from the area that Drigo’s death was a reprisal killing for the shooting death of another man last week on December 26. Initial reports suggest that Drigo was shot nine times.

Residents reported at the time that there was an exchange of gunfire in the vicinity of Drigo’s home. Police armed with automatic weapons and bullet proof vests subsequently swooped down on the area and were reported to have been still keeping a presence there for much of Wednesday morning.

Armstrong is described as an individual who is well-known to the police. He has appeared in court and been charged with drug-related matters in the past.
