Arsonist attacks business owned by son of Gov’t Minister

Port-of-Spain: An arsonist attacked an establishment owned and operated by the son of the Minister of Works and Transport Austin Jack Warner this morning, police say.

Investigations indicate that an armed man went onto the compound of Jet Ski Rentals which is run by Darrian Warner around four o'clock  in the morning and tied up the security guard before setting the building ablaze.

He then fled in a vehicle owned by Jet Ski Rentals.

The business, which houses the jet ski rental company, a portable toilet company and a fast food outlet, is located along the Western Main Road in Carenage, a suburb eight miles west of the capital, Port-of-Spain.

Police are not treating the incident as a robbery although valuables were taken. They suspect that the bandit had other motives for carrying out the act.

Minister Warner is also a vice-president of the world governing football body, FIFA, the president of CONCACAF and a special advisor to the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation.

He is also a member of parliament for the Chaguanas West constituency in central Trinidad.
