Georgetown: Athmaram Mangar was sworn in today as a new Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) commissioner, as former Commissioner Jaya Devi Manickchand resigned. He was sworn-in at the Credentials Room of the Office of the President.
President Donald Ramotar in congratulating Mangar on his appointment said he would be filling an important vacancy. The President further noted that it is his hope that the work of the commission is foremost in Mangar’s mind and he continuously improves the democratic institutions within the country.
Newly sworn in Commissioner, Athmaram Mangar said his expertise are in management and he expects those are the areas he will be facing regarding to elections operations.
