Port of Spain; A bad move by a young man who attempted to get into the Trinidad and Tobago police force is now the reason he will never stand a chance. Neil Joogoon 25, a father of two from Penal attempted to use a fake document to enter the police force during the recruitment process which took place at Skinners Park in San Fernando.
He presented the document to Constable Prince who observed it had been tampered with and took Joogoon to the fraud squad in San Fernando. Joogoon admitted to having changed the grade on his CXC result paper from a four to a two. He said he had written the exam in 2004 and returned in 2011 to redo English A and Mathematics, but he obtained grade four in both subjects. In order for him to qualify to gain entry into the service he needed five subjects, so he erased the four and typed in a two
Joogoon had no previous convictions so he was fined $5,000. He was given 28 days to pay the money or spend nine months in jail.
