Attorney General granted bail

Dominica: Former Attorney General, Bernard Wiltshire, has been placed on EC$50,000.00 bail after he was arrested on Monday January 30, 2012 by the police for conspiracy to fraudulently obtain a Commonwealth of Dominica passport, according to a report on the Dominica NewsOnline.

He is now jointly charged with Harolda Henry of Grand Bay, Lyndon Marie and Nash Mitchell. Henry is an employee of the Dominica Planned Parenthood Association (DPPA) and was granted bail of EC$50,000.00 with her boss Willie Fevrier as surety. Mitchell and Marie were also each granted bail of the same amount, the DNO said.

Late last year, Wiltshire who has since filed a civil law suit against the police and government for false imprisonment and arrest, was detained by the police for questioning after he had endorsed a passport form in the name of Younis Abraham.

Speaking from the prisoners dock, Wiltshire told the court that “this is the first time that I am speaking to Nash Mitchell, this is clear political victimization by the government of me. It is disgusting and comes from the top”, the DNO reported.
