Today October 5th, 2010 marks 18 years since the People’s Progressive Party /Civic (PPP/C) returned to office under the leadership of the Late President Cheddi Jagan. The party had campaigned under the theme “Dawn of a New Era- Restore Democracy”.
Over the 18 years the party had four Presidents Dr. Cheddi Jagan, Samuel Hinds, Janet Jagan and Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo.

Another execution within 24 hours carries the number of people killed by gunmen to nine, over the past 3 weeks. The concern now is whether Guyana needs professional intervention. The local authorities may be lacking in both resources and investigative capabilities as it regards the sophistication in which these attacks are carried out. Sources close to the CID say that the victims in all these shootings may be loose ends or defaulters in a drug trade that has the society reeling from it’s effects.

The Traffic Department today stepped up their campaign against motorist in the wake of the increased road fatalities. Over the last weekend three persons lost their lives at the hands of reckless drivers.
49 year old Mohan Lall of Windsor Castle a peddle cyclist was struck down by a Motor Lorry GEE 6177 driven by Bharrat Persaud Saturday October 02, 2010. He died this morning at the Georgetown Hospital.
