Hope-Mahaica
Residents that faced with the constant flooding along the East coast of Demerara whenever there are heavy rainfalls can now be at relief with the installation of a new outfall channel at Hope/Dochfour the East Demerara Water Conservancy.
President Bharrat Jagdeo who witnessed the start of the project today said the initiative is not just a technical solution to a problem, but one which will significantly change the circumstances of people who have been affected, due to there being no alternative to releasing water into the Mahaica/Mahaicony/Abary areas.
The Nigerian Association of Guyana today presented three (3) gifts items to the mothers of the first three babies that were born today, October 1, 2010. This presentation was made by the Association’s president and other executive members as part of their planned activities in observance of their 50th Independence Anniversary Celebration.
The three mothers who received the gift items were Mahaidai Sankar, Natoya Williams and Natasha Watson. The first two mothers gave birth to boy babies and the last, a girl.
