Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) boss Mahender Sharma this morning called on the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities in relation to illegal fuel to the GEA Secretariat.
According to Sharma approximately 3:44pm on Thursday September 30, 2010, four masked persons entered the GEA compound, subdued the security guards with handguns, cut the locks on one of the four 20-ft containers in the compound and left with two cans of the domestic marker concentrate used to mark fuel.

Today’s sitting of the Lower House which kicks off in a few minutes, is expected to be an exciting affair.

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar is expected to address the Parliament about proposed legislation to prevent another Clico fiasco.

Justice Minister Herbert Volney is expected to apologise for accusations he leveled against Chief Justice Ivor Archie during the budget debate. And Opposition MP Colm Imbert is scheduled to ask that Volney be taken before the Parliament’s Privileges Committee.

 

This morning truck drivers came together to picket the Ministry of Home Affairs saying with the new order signed by Minister Clement Rohee they are losing five prime hours of work.

The Minister has signed the order in keeping with Section 48.1of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act Chapter 51:02 which stipulates that no motor lorries and slow moving vehicles be allowed to use the city (Georgetown) and East Bank Public Road between Houston and Timehri from Monday to Saturday between 7am to 9am and 4pmto 6pm
