Second in charge of the Guyana National Bureau of Standards Evadnie Benfield this afternoon said her organization has moved to notify businesses across the country to use paper bags instead of plastics whenever dealing with packages for customers.
According to the Bureau’s spokeswoman this will help to reduce the effects of global warming since plastics are non-biodegradable and hazardous to the environment.

Abu Bakr and Brent "Big Brent" Miller were today ordered to be charged with the 1998 murder of Israel Sammy by Port of Spain Magistrate Nalini Singh.
Abu Bakr is said to be in custody at the Central Police Station, in Port of Spain.
Sammy was killed on May 20, 1998, when four masked men went to his home at Darra Street, Boissiere Village No 1, Maraval. The men pretended to be police officers and dragged Sammy to a nearby ravine and shot him twice in the head, killing him instantly.
