Trinidad and Tobago’s defeated Chile 2-1 in the in their opening game in the Under 17 Women’s World Cup.
The victory was the first this country has recorded in a football World Cup. The World Cup is current;y being held in Trinidad and Tobago.

TTUTA says the Ministry has failed to live up to its promise of opening all schools on time.
 

ONLY 98 per cent of schools were ready to opened today-the first day of the new school term-the Education Ministry has said.
 Pleasantville Secondary, St. Augustine Secondary and Cowen Hamilton Secondary will remain closed.
The Ministry says Cowen Hamilton will open tomorrow while the other two will do so on Wednesday.
According to the Ministry a total of 136 schools in seven districts were repaired and facilities and infrastructure improved during the August
holiday period.

brief at CoCo Reef hotel.

National Security Minister Brigadier John Sandy has vowed to tackle the issue of human trafficking affecting this county.
Sandy made the statement during today’s post-Cabinet news conference in Tobago.
He said legislation will soon be brought to address the issue.

   Seventeen year old Tyrone Rowe called COBRA and described by the police as the most wanted man in Guyana today surrenders to the Police accompanied by his close relatives and his girlfriend.

 His girlfriend was detained for questioning.

 Rowe from 268 Independence Boulevard Albouystown was wanted for a number of murders and armed robberies.

   A search party comprising of Police Ranks and relatives recovered the body of Godwin Maxwell around 06:30 h today.

A port mortem examination was performed on the body by Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh who gave the cause of death as asphyxiation due to drowning and blunt trauma to head.

58 year old miner Vincent Williams of Supernaam Essequibo Coast was murdered at around 04:00 h at 14 Miles, Issano.

According to information from Police Headquarters in Georgetown Vincent Williams and another man were consuming alcohol when they became involved in an argument over a female.  He was later chopped and stabbed about the body by the suspect and succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect was apprehended by public spirited persons in the community and handed over to the police.  The weapon used in the incident was also recovered.
