Georgetown- Finance Minister Dr.Ashni Singh, in his closing remarks to the house said that the 2011 budget represents the vision of the PPP/Civic Government of transforming a tomorrow Guyana today. He said that in every area there is progress and the 161.4 billion budget which is an increase of 13.1 billion from last year focuses on infrastructure, an educated workforce, modern advances in technology among key areas of development. He said that the vision of a tomorrow Guyana is no longer a dream.

West Demerara –
The police are investigating the suspected murder of Dhanpaul Rambarack, age 46 years, a hire car driver of Block X Cornelia Ida, WCD, which occurred at about 7:45h. yesterday , at Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara.

Investigations revealed that Dhanpaul Rambarack and a man had an argument during which he
was assaulted about his body.
He was taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The suspect has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigations.

Georgetown- Late this afternoon, Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh said that the operationalising of the family court later in 2011 will result in the provision of a facility where family law including child custody cases will be done in a specialised environment. He said that a sum of 105.4 million dollars has been allocated for the construction/rehabilitation and extension of Mibicuri, Whim , Lethem, Christianburg and Georgetown Magistrate courts.

Georgetown-  Oil exploration are being pursued off the coast of the Pomeroon and during 2010 drilling continued in the Takatu Basin for indication of Hydrocarbon. Finance Minister Ashni Singh during his budget speech today said that plans are advancing for the offshore Georgetown block and construction of a multi purpose staging base at grant canal in the berbice river in anticipation of drilling in the corentyne block. Dr.

Georgetown- Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh said that during 2011, 8.2 billion dollars will be spent on roads and 1.9 billion on bridges including a number major trans-formative projects.The sum of 1.7 billion dollars has been budgeted for the completion of 35 kilometers of all weather roads in the Blackbush Polder area and 19 kilometers in the Canjie area, This the Minister said will provide permanent accessibility and reduce transportation cost.

 Georgetown – Guyana Minister of finance Dr. Ashni Singh is presently presenting the 2011 National Budget in the Chambers of the Parliament Building.

He said Guyana has seen a positive growth and sees the future even brighter than ever. In his opening statement presentation Dr. Singh said Guyana’s Gross Domestic is 453 billion dollars with a 4% real growth over the past four years. He mentioned Guyana has reduced its external death from 72% to 47%.
 

 Georgetown – People’s National Congress Reform member Joan Bagavems took up former shadow finance Minister’s seat Winston Murray this afternoon when the 2011 Budget is being presented.

Bagavems was sworn in before Speaker of the National Assembly Ralph Ramkarran.
