The South Coast boardwalk at Hasting Rock, Christ Church will be be officially named the Richard Haynes Boardwalk tomorrow.
This is in recognition Sir Richard Haynes outstanding conribution to the social and political development of Barbados and to the commercial development of the environs Rockley, Christ Church.
Sir Richard, a distinguish physician and real estate developer was elected to Parliament in 1978 as a member of the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) eight years later in 1986, he was appointed Minister of Finister of Finance after the DLP was re-elected to office.
In 1989 he resigned from the DLP after a disagreement with the then Prime Minister Erskine Sandiford and formed the National Democratic Party (NDP), after losing his seat on a NDP ticket in 1991, Sir Richard was relected to Parliament as a member of the NDP in 1994 until he retire in 1999.
The popular boardwalk at Hasting Rock is the flagship project under the Costtal Infrasture Programme, the boardwalk stretches over 1.2 km from Rockley Beach to west of the Sierra Hotel.
Prime Minister Freundel Stuart will address the cremony which is slated to start at 4p.m.
