A senior official of Research In Motion Limited (RIML) the makers of the Blackberry smart phone has described Barbadians the most loyal customers to the Blackberry brand in the Caribbean, and he expect consumers to adopt to the new BlackBerry 10 devices.
Sean Killen, RIML director in the Caribbean says many Barbadians held on to phones that were two or three years old and would be eager to buy a newer model.
"While in some other islands we saw a bit of erosion in the high end, the feedback from Barbados was they will wait for the Backberry 10", Killen told Trakker News.
Wes Nicol, RIML managing director for Lantin America, who previously held responsibility for the Caribbean added that Barbados had a larger percentage of high end user than some of the other islands because there is a bit more wealth and he expected that the BlackBerry 10 to be in demand.
"My experience is that Bajans like to communicate, they really like to share and talk about things and chat. The new QWERTY keyboard that we had with BlackBerry from the start enable that. It was very easy to communicate and get word out and talk and comment on things" Nicol said.
He added that the popularity of BlackBerry Messenger was unexpected.
