Execuutive Director of the Barbados Manfacturers Association (BMA) Bobbi Mckay has called on Barbadians to stop buying inferior goods from aboard that are being sold at a cheaper price tthan local products.
Speaking at the launch of May Day activities held by the Barbarbados Workers Union at Solidarity House, Mckay said while she embraces foreign investment it must not be at the demise of Barbadians.
She warned that the survival of the country depends on the Barbadian workforce being employed, emphasizing that Barbadians must strengthen the bonds of national pride and loving themselves first.
Mckay called on Barbadians to look at the bigger picture because the playing field is not level.
The BMA executive director said cheap watered down products are flooding the market, many of them locally sourced but not locally made.
She remined he public that buying local products keep Barbadians employed and urged them to continue to do so.
