Bandit shot after attacking police

Georgetown : At about 3:30 a.m today, police ranks responded to a report of a breakage on a city store at Regent Street, Bourda.

On arrival, the police managed to arrest one of the men. During this, another suspect who was in the process of climbing over the fence to the compound, jumped down and attacked the ranks with a chopper.

The police was forced to resort to the use of force and the suspect was shot to his body. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC).

The so far unidentified man who is of African descent appears to be in his mid-thirties, is brown in complexion and 5’ 2” in height. The body is at the GPHC mortuary.

The Police Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) is conducting investigations into the incident.
