Bandits attacked and robbed Berbice Grocer-two shot

 

Berbice : The police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at No. 19 Village, Corentyne, during which businessman Shivlall Sherkissoon, 39 years of No. 19 Village, Corentyne, was attacked and robbed by five men, one of whom was armed with a shotgun.

The police in the ancient county says Shivlall Sherkissoon operates a grocery shop at the lower flat of his house and at the time he was conversing with his uncle Sooklall Sherkissoon, when they were confronted by thebandits.  The armed man stood guard at the gate while the others held Shivlall Sherkissoon and Sooklall Sherkissoon and demanded cash and jewellery.

Shivlall Sherkissoon and Sooklall Sherkissoon managed to escape and the perpetrators then proceeded into the house where they held up Shivlall’s niece Keisha Mohabir and took away a quantity of gold jewellery valued at $400,000.00. 

During their escape the perpetrators discharged several rounds indiscriminately which caused injuries to Bibi Hassan a neighbour who was on her verandah and was hit to her left shoulder and Mahendra Dharmaanother relative of the Sherkissoons, who was hit to both legs. They have been admitted patients at the New Amsterdam Hospital.
