Georgetown- At about 19:50 hrs. yesterday, three men, one of whom was armed with a firearm, entered the Bethel Church at Castello Housing Scheme, Georgetown, and held up Gregory Clarke of South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, and took away his personal jewellery.
During the process Brian Williams, who was also in the congregation, confronted the armed perpetrator and dealt him a blow to his body with an object during which a round was discharged and struck Williams to his right knee. The armed man dropped the firearm and the perpetrators escaped.
The unlicensed .32 pistol with 12 matching rounds has been handed over to the police while Brian Williams has been admitted a patient at the GPHC.
Investigations are continuing.
