Bank employee part of an armed gang failed in early morning bank robbery – one shot dead

Georgetown : Just minutes to 8am today, chaos broke out at the corner of Water and Robb Streets when members of a private guard service contracted by Republic Bank traded bullets with armed gunmen who were in an attempt to carry out a brazen robbery.

Also quick response by members of the Guyana police Force cornered the bandits shooting one on the spot.

Another was found seeking refuge at a nearby snackette in the Stabroek Archade just opposite the bank. To many surprised vendors, the gunman after caught was positively identified as a bank employee. His working attire was under the clothing he wore to carry out the robbery. He was also caught with a hand gun, wig and gloves.

A third bandit was caught i around the vicinity of the bank.

Many curious onlookers at the scene were very verbal in praising the lawmen for their courage and work in apprehending the bandits.

A female bank employee was reported shot during the shootout and is in a stable condition seeking medical attention.

Police investigations are ongoing.
