Bank receives first tranche of IMF funds

Kingston.

The Bank of Jamaica has confirmed that it has received US$202.6 million, which represents the first tranche of funds under the country’s deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The Government says US$90 million of the initial drawdown will represent direct budget support to the country.

On Wednesday, the IMF Executive Board approved the country’ loan application under a four-year Extended Fund Facility amounting to US$932.3 million.
According toPrime Minister Portia Simpson Miller, it’s in the interest of every Jamaican that the programme with the IMF succeeds.
