Bridgetown.
A bar owner is asking Barbadians to be careful after he was scammed by a group of what he thought were big spending Americans.
Sydney Johnson told Trakker News a group of people sounding like Americans came into his bar and began asking questions about Barbados.
"Then one of them said let us get some drinks and the first round is on me, he asked if if I took US money because that all he had. I told him yes and he bought four beers and rum and coke and paid with a US $50", Johnson said.
Several other members of the group bought drinks and paid for them with US dollars, two days later, Johnson took the money to a commerical bank deposit it (US$320) and was informed it was false.
The distraught bar said it was and expensive lesson which had forced him to invest in a counterfeit machine and the implementation of a policy of small US bills only.
