Bridgetown.
Barbadians will not be swayed towards accepting foreign policemen, despite recruiting new members domestically continues to be a problem for the Royal Barbados Police Force this view as expressed by Prime Minister Freundel Stuart in the House of Assembly yesterday.
"When we came into office we inherited a police force that was in deficit of its full complement and we have not been able to correct the deficit because recruiting young men in particular by the Royal Barbados Police Force has proven to be a big challenge", Stuart said.
"We dont mind exporting our policemen elsewhere and that has been happening for many years but Barbadians have not yet got around to accepting policemen trained elsewhere or policemen born elsewhere, therefore the deficit continues", he added.
According to a source, the Royal Barbados Police Force need 100 constables but a high percentage of males applying to be police officers are failing background checks and polygraph tests.
