Barbadians are being urged to place greater emphasis on being pepare for disaster this hurricane season.
Director of the Department of Emergency Management (DEM) Judy Thomas, says all of the stakeholders in disaster management, must work together in creating a culture of public safety with a greater focus being placed not only on hurricanes and floods at this time, but on the whole gamut of threats faced by the island.
Thomas stressed that Barbadians will have to renew their thought processes when making prepartions for the hurricane season, to ensure that they are ready to reduce the impact of any hazard they may encouter.
According to Thomas, there is need for a new national emergency operation centre which can withstand most threats and from which Government can continue to rule the country in a crisis.
