Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago to talk gas

Barbados is sending a mission to Trinidad and Tobagon to hold disussions on the proposed natual gasline between two countries.

Prime Minister of  Barbados Freundel Stuart, held a bilatreal meeting yesterday with his Trinidad and Tobago counterpart  Kamla -Persad -Bissessar, on the eve on the CARICOM-Mexico Summit which begins in  this morning at the Barbados Hilton.

Stuart emphasized the importance of the pipeline and the need for face to face talks on the issue.

"We have had some dicussions on it to ascertain where we are and what needs to be done  because this is a great matter of interest to us and we are making some forward movements in this regard", Stuart said.

"Trinidad has invited us to send a mission so that we can get away from the phones and have direct communications to reach some critical conclusion", he added.

Persad-Bissessar praised the bilateral relationship, saying the twin island republic was keen to expedite the natural gas project.
