Barbados was bowled out for 58 runs on the final day of their fifth round match against Guyana in the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) regional cricket championship at Kensington Oval this morning.
The home team resumed their second innings on five runs for one wicket needing to bat most of the day to save the match, the former kings of regional cricket collapsed dramatically in the pre lunch session, losing the match by an innings and 66 runs.
This was the lowest total by a Barbados cricket team since regional first-class were in 1966, their lowest previously was79 against Trinidad and Tobago at the same venue. Part time off spinner Narsingh Deonarine took 7 wickets for 26 runs.
Barbados cricket has been surrounded in controversy for several days, last weekend three members of the selection committe, chairman George Linton, Michael Inniss resigned after the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) failed to ratify they recommended to appoint wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich to captain the team against Guyana, in the absence of regular captain Kirk Edwards.
