Barbados has been ranked as the least corrupt country in the Caribbean, in the latest report on the perception of global corruption by the European based Transparency International, Barbados placed 16th out of the 183 countries surveyed.
Transparency International which released its findings last night said no country was completely free of public corruption. Barbados scored 7.8 out of a possible 10, placing it on par with Britian but ahead of the United States' 24th.
Barbados is second only to Canada, 10th in the Americas ahead of the Bahamas, ranked 21st,St Lucia 25th; St Vincent 36th;Dominica 44th;Jamaica 86th; Trinidad and Tobago 91st, Suriname 100th; the Dominican Republic 129th;Guyana 134th and Haiti 175th.
