Beware of the optics says Prime Minister

Bridgetown.

Anyone who enter politics must take it seriously says Prime Minister Freundel Stuart.

Speaking at  Rices, St Philip last night as  the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) made a second report to the nation on its stewardship, the Prime Minister said.

"You must take what they are doing seriously, because the decisions that politicians make can either bring immense pleasure to whom they serve or can bring  untold  and unendurable pain to those same persons".

Stuart told the large crowd that he approaches politics not as a career, nor as an undertaking designed to enhance the quality of his own curriculum vitate, but as an undertaking on the basis of which he can transform the lives of the masses of Barbados.

"And that is what the DLP is about, we take politics seriously. We are unlike those who now oppose us, for whom politics is some kind of spectator sport, where all that is important is making sure you got the optics and impressions right", says Stuart.

He stated that the Opposition Barbados Labour Party  is seeking to regain power but noted that the word power connotes control over people.

"I don't want control over anybody. What I want is the strength to tackle the task of making the lives of Barbadians better", he added.
