Several businesses are spending huge sums of money to sponsor this year crop over festival. According to a document produced by the National Cultural Foundation (NCF), the four platinum sponsors of the festival , LAIT, the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation, the Barbados Tourism Authority and the Barbados Sanitation Authority giving sponsorship worth over a quarter million dollars.
Acting Chief Executive Officer of the NCF Canston Browne, told a media briefing the festival could not be produced without the key componet of sponsorship. Browne noted that while a number of events are free, they were no less costly to stage than those that patrons paid to attend.
Corporate Communications Specialist at the NCF Simone Codrington told the briefing the platinum sponsors were covering the entire festival and not specific events.
