St John's Antigua.
Nine months after his death, the body of Deon “Ticks” Thomas, one of the four men accused of the murder of service station attendant Dorothy Prince, is still being held at Straffie’s Funeral Home.
Thomas died at the Mount St John’s Medical Center last July after developing breathing complications, his body was taken to Straffie’s on July 12. The cause of his death has yet to be determined.
Police Spokesman Inspector William Holder told journalists over the weekend, he did not know why Thomas' body has not been burried.
“I don’t know. I can’t say, ask the mangement of the funeral home", Holder said.
Elizabeth Saunders, owner and funeral director of Straffie’s, also told reportes she cannot give a reason why Thomas body has been laid to rest.
“I can’t even answer that question. You would have to speak to the authorities. I am waiting to get a warrant to bury him that comes from the higher authorities. It is illegal to bury someone without a warrant or permission from the registrar or magistrate. You need permission from the High Court", Saunder said.
