British Virgin Islands: Workers at the Water and Sewerage Department were temporarily sent home yesterday morning after the receptionist received threatening phone calls from a man claiming he will bomb the place, the BVInews.com reported.
Reports say the woman at the switchboard received about six calls after 10 this morning from a man who said he is coming to blow the place up and the employees should leave the place.
Reports said as a result of this the police were called in to investigate the matter and make attempts to trace where the calls originated.
The BVInews.com report said that the management is said to have taken the threats serious, alerted its staff and secured its premises, including locking the gates.
The Water and Sewerage Department sent out a release to the media advising its valuable customers that the main office in Baugher’s Bay, Tortola will be closed from 13:00hrs yesterday.
Additionally, it further advised the public that the department will only attend to emergency calls after the said closing time and regular office hours will resume today from 8:30hrs.
The Water and Sewerage Department thanks the general public for their continued cooperation and sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience caused, according to the BVInews.com report.
