Bones found by lawmen

Bridgetown.

A two day search by police officers have discovered bones in a gully at Jackson, St Michael  believed to those  of missing 12-year-old Rasheeda Bascombe but investigators will have to await forensic analysis later this week to determine their origin.

Acting Assistant Commissioner Mark Thompson, in charge of the force’s crime management and investigations, told the media that the discovery was part of the ongoing investigations into the disappearance and alleged murder of the former Parkinson Memorial Secondary School student who went missing 11 years ago.

“The Royal Barbados Police Force, being cognizant that it was reported in the Press that the body of Rasheeda Bascombe was not recovered, believes it is in the public’s interest to restate its position that the investigation regarding the disappearance of Rasheeda Bascombe remains an ongoing investigation despite the fact that someone has been charged for her murder,” he said.

Last week Rasheeda' grandfather Winified Nurse, 68, of Accommodation Road, Bush Hall, St Michael was charged in connection with the death of his 12-year-old granddaughter.

He was remanded HMP Dodds until July 1.
