ST JOHN’S, Antigua : The Adele School for Special Needs Children closed its doors earlier than usual yesterday and will be closed today following the sudden death of a student on the compound.
The school issued a notice of the closure shortly after the incident, which occurred around noon.
“Due to the passing of one of our students at Adele School For Special Needs Children there will be no school on Friday March 11,” the press statement read.
Reports reaching OBSERVER MEDIA are that a 14-year-old male student collapsed and died while playing. Two ambulances responded to the report of the incident, but by the time they arrived he was already dead.
A source said he might have died of health complications.
Adele School in is a government subsidised school for children who have mild to severe handicaps or learning disabilities.
