North West District : The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Brazilian Elaine Sousa Santos, 43 years, whose body was found in a mining camp at Piari, Puruni, yesterday.
It is reported that the victim was beaten by a man with whom she had recently ended a relationship. The suspect is not yet arrested.
The body is at the Bartica Hospital awaiting a post mortem examination.
