Georgetown: The 20 member Brazilian Samba Band has arrived safely in Guyana and are already preparing for their debut performance at the first ever Masharama Street Fete on the eve of Mashramani.
All are invited to join in this massive pre- Masharamani celebration, groove to the rhythms of the samba music and revel in the harmonies from the Soca Monarch Artistes.
On the Night of Feb 22nd spectators will be treated to an energy filled stage performance from 18:00 hours, complemented by an array of colourful Mashramani costumes to set the mood for the grand float parade on the 23rd.
Admission to this highly anticipated event on Brickdam is free, and the venue is set to come alive as this Samba Band, sponsored by the Tourism Ministry/ Brazilian Embassy, performs their traditional dances along to the rhythmic groves of their music, as seen in Rio Carnival.
‘Masharama’, was conceptualized as part of the plan to attract more persons for the upcoming Mashramani celebrations and to magnify the significance of the occasion; revelers will not be disappointed by the stunning stage performances, refreshing beverages and mouthwatering delicacies on sale at the event.
Under the theme ‘Rediscover Home- Celebrating our Diversity’ the Tourism Ministry is taking the Mashramani Celebrations up a notch by hosting Masharama” on Friday, February 22nd, 2013 from 6pm to midnight, between Camp Street and Austin Place.
The Brazilian visitors are scheduled to make their first public appearance at Courts Guyana, on Main Street on (Feb 22nd) at 12:30 ; the furniture store is one of the core sponsors of the event.
Still basking in the afterglow of the Masharama Celebrations, the Tourism Ministry will lead parade of 100 strong to compete in the medium category float competition, on February 23, which will be followed by the Brazilian Samba Group with an anticipated 100 party followers accompanying them to the National Park.
