Brian Lara, Special Envoy of new Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley has told Dominicans they can expect more help from the twin-island republic as they recover from the devastation caused by Tropical Storm Erika.
Lara met this week with Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and toured some of the worst affected areas.
The cricket icon visited the island this week for a first hand assessment of the devastation caused by the August 27 passage of Tropical Storm Erika.
Lara said Prime Minister Rowley was very concerned about the situation in Dominica and “he’s willing to give a lot more”.
“I am going to go back and ensure I take the right message back,” he told Skerrit.
Tropical Storm Erika caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage and claimed about 30 lives when its heavy rains soaked the island.
Infrastructure was severely damaged, with some road, bridges and building collapsing under the pressure of floods and landslides.
