Port-of-Spain: The alleged death threats have prompted travel advisories by Britain and Australia for their citizens travelling to this country.
The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office on Thursday issued a bulletin on its website advising that there are reports of the country's security forces being placed on high alert after the alleged threat.
It further advised that reports indicated at least seven people had been detained in connection with the plot. as a consequence it encouraged all visiting UK nationals to exercise extra vigilance during this heightened state of alert.
Australian citizens were also advised to pay close attention to their personal security at all times and monitor the media about possible new safety or security risks.
It was only recently that Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar handed over the chairmanship of the Commonwealth to Australia.
