Bridgetown.
Opposition Member of Parliament Mia Mottley yesterday evening charged that the 2012 Budget did not connect with Barbadians.
Replying to the Budgetary Proposals presented by Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler in the House of Assembly on Tuesday, Mottley said the Budget was written for the benefit for the international credit rating agencies.
"A fear has taken hold of this Government perhap justifiably that they may not be in a position to hold the credit rating above what may now be the last measure, the last stand above junk bond status", Mottley said.
"The implications for the country, the companies and the people of Barbados can and will be dire, after presiding over two downgrades since 2008, there was an clear indication that this was a Budget for the tutelage of the Minister of Finance by the technocrats for the international credit rating agencies", she added.
